How Qwisp Works

Each learner has a personal Qwisp Map

Ideally, each learner will have a tablet and be able to access the Qwisp website and sign in to their personal map.

The map symbolises a learning journey that guides a learners’ exploration into the world of knowledge and understanding.

Learners set out equipped with their innate mind energies, such as creativity, curiosity and intuition, in order to explore four crucial questions that are focused on a persons life long quest to survive and thrive through learning.

The Qwisp Map is the learners anchor and guide, providing a structure to work from while giving direction, continuity, context, and content.

All learning journeys start at the Self

Qwisp® uses the Self as the starting point of learning, so that the learning journey has constant context. This creates a personal and relevant learning experience that the learner easily identifies with.

The map takes them through a sequence of four specific questions which create a purpose specific thought process in the learners mind. This thought process will serve them well throughout their lives.

There is a learning journey for each of our essential human needs

The journeys take the essential needs of human beings as topics for learning, again putting learners at the centre of the learning experience while providing context, direction, and meaning to their journeys.

The ‘spokes’ of the ‘wheel’ represent the trajectories of the learning journeys and the core of the syllabus, while the dots on each learning journey represent clickable hubs of learning materials . Here learners find a treasure trove of lessons and  learning materials for classroom or home use, or for exploring independently. 

Teachers will use the same structure to house their syllabus and the resources they prepare for learners. These will be stored on the teacher’s personal Qwisp Map archive.

The questions put to the learner awaken their innate and unstoppable mind energies, such as curiosity, instinct, creativity, intuition, reason and imagination.

Qwisp calls these our spontaneous energies and harnesses them as assistants and energy for the learning journey.

All of the above mentioned energies are crucial to problem-solving, innovation, analysis and insight.

 

The Qwisp Map creates a natural extension to the innate human tendency to ask questions from an early age, optimising energies that are already present and hugely active.

These particular questions combine the learners existing knowledge and spontaneous energies to stimulate their curiosity, while the Qwisp Map provides the guidance that enables them to explore beyond their existing knowledge, find answers, draw conclusions and gain insights.

The specific question sequence is crucial to the value of Qwisp because, beyond facts, they provide learners with a robust understanding of reason and consequence.

The question sequence reveals the building blocks of all matter that makes life possible, animate and inanimate.

The questions bore down into each topic, starting on the surface, they gradually reveal the building blocks of life. In early education these will be things that the learner can touch and feel. These will evolve with learning into the invisible world of atoms, ions and all that makes up the material world, in preparation for the complexities of advanced sciences.

Deconstruction into building blocks will provide the opportunity for learners to identify and familiarise themselves with the range of building blocks that make up our planet and pave the way for introducing scientific terminology in step with their language acquisition and at a comprehensible pace.

All in all, it will create a solid platform on which to build their knowledge of science and technology as they proceed into higher education.

Deconstruction into building blocks reveals patterns and cycles, some of which could , in turn, reveal the  interconnection of all life on the planet, unveil the value of patterns to learning and research, and pave the way to problem solving.

Exploring patterns and cycles will also highlight the relationship between connection and interdependence and the crucial role that interdependence plays in the sustainability of the planet.
